ARTIST'S STATEMENT
My works are journeys
undertaken without a known destination, let alone a road map. I
select some materials and make a mark or arrange a piece of paper, then
I study it to see what other part of the picture space needs to respond
and what the response might be — another mark or piece of
collage. Sometimes this process flows rapidly, and sometimes it
takes a while to take the next step. The mood I was in when I
began the work may have passed, but its legacy remains in the piece,
demanding to be worked out somehow. Eventually, I do reach a
resolution, which may come as a surprise. Only then do I decide
what to call the work.
